English 1102 (ENGL 1102)

English 1102 introduces students to a selection of poetry and to a sampling of modern drama. Some short stories are also included. Students compose analytical essays dealing with the method of presenting the content of a literary piece. A video adaptation of a play or novel is viewed and discussed. Short lectures provide information about literary schools and their social, political and creative backgrounds. Composition also includes an original piece of research on a particular author or authors or an approved topic selected by the student. This research is presented in both an informal presentation and a formal research essay.
